Digital Accessibility – Design With Abil 2018-03-19T02:08:19+00:00

The Problem

The digital world has revolutionized everyone’s life, but not equally. 15% of the global population, more than a billion people, lives with a disability. In Canada, this represents 3.8 million people and many of those impacted are seniors. At Abil, we help businesses create accessible digital experiences that work for all users, regardless of their physical ability or age.

How We Do It

Audit digital experience. Check compliance levels based on government policies. Inspect customer experiences using assistive technologies. Rectify issues so that the platform is usable by all users, on all devices.

Check the quality of interaction of the website. Run tests with people living with a disability and seniors, using various assistive technologies on different platforms. Identify issues and report on methods to solve them.

Provide tools and access to space with assistive technology. Facilitate sessions with employees and diverse users. Problem solve and iterate with diverse users through a product’s development.

Foresee budget implications of accessibility laws. Establish an accessibility strategy. Integrate accessibility in the development process. Write policies regarding hiring standards. Build an accessibility lab.

What’s In It For You

Increase Audience

While some race to avoid government penalties, a lucrative opportunity lies in creating great accessible experiences. More than 7 million Canadians live with a disability or are over the age of 65, and these customer segments are growing quickly.

Shift Mindsets

Many product owners, managers, designers, and developers are irritated by accessibility. We inspire teams to build accessible experiences not because they have to, but because it is meaningful and beneficial for the business to do so.

Spark Innovation

How do you make a service or product more customizable? How can you make an experience easier for someone that is aging? What companies are leading the way? Have no doubt, these questions are challenging and spark creativity.
